Micronesia is a sub region of Oceania, comprising thousands of small islands in the western Pacific Ocean. Like many communities in the Pacific, Micronesia is largely defined as an Intangible culture that's fabric is comprised of song, music, drama, skills, crafts and stories.
Project Micronesia is a documentary investigation into cultural identity of the island of Kosrae using video, photo and oral history to examine the rapidly changing culture. The project will pay close attention to the effects that the occupation of the islands by Japan during World War II and the lasting effects of these events. This website and it's content has been financed (in part) with Historic Preservation Funds in partnership with the National Park Service, Department of the Interior and the Federated States of Micronesia State Historic Preservation Division.
